Privacy & Affiliate Policy
Last updated: October 2026
In short
Brave Heroes (braveheroesofficial.com) is an independent guide to assistive and adaptive products. We collect very little personal data: only what you choose to send us (for example your email address if you join our newsletter or write to us), basic technical data that any website server processes and, only if you agree, statistics about how the site is used. We do not sell your data. Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
1. Affiliate disclosure
This website takes part in affiliate programs and affiliate advertising programs. This means that some links on the site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission from the retailer or program at no additional cost to you.
As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
Affiliate commissions help us keep the site running and free to read. They do not change the price you pay, and we aim to recommend products based on their usefulness, not on the commission. Where a page contains affiliate links, we say so on or near that page.
We are not the seller of any product we feature. Purchases are made on the retailer’s own website, and the retailer’s terms, privacy policy and customer service apply to your order.
2. Product information, prices and availability
Product details, prices, ratings and availability can change at any time and may differ from what we show. Please check the retailer’s page before you buy. Content on this site is for general information only. It is not medical, therapeutic or professional advice, and it does not replace advice from your doctor, occupational therapist or another qualified professional who knows your needs. Please choose products according to your own situation and the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Who is responsible for your data
The controller of personal data on this website is Sofia Fougiaxi, who operates Brave Heroes, based in Greece. You can contact us at hello@braveheroesofficial.com or through our Contact page.
4. What data we collect, why, and on what legal basis
a) Newsletter and free checklist
If you subscribe, you can download our free checklist straight after signing up. We store your email address, the date and time of your sign-up, the page where you signed up, and the fact that you ticked the consent box. We use this only to send you the newsletter and to prove that you consented. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time, with effect for the future, by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us. We will not send you affiliate links in emails unless the affiliate program’s rules allow it, and we will never sell or rent your email address.
b) Contacting us
If you email us, we use your email address and message to reply. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering your question (Article 6(1)(f)), or steps requested by you before a contract (Article 6(1)(b)). We keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your request and any follow-up.
c) Server logs and security
Our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the date and time, in order to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interest in a secure and working website (Article 6(1)(f)). Log data is normally deleted automatically after a short period set by the host.
d) Website statistics (Google Analytics)
If you accept statistics cookies in our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, for example which pages are read and how people find us. Google Analytics collects information such as pages visited, time on page, approximate location (country or city), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It does not store your full IP address, and we do not use it to identify you or for advertising. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you decline, Google Analytics does not set cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the “Manage consent” link on the site. Statistics data is kept for 14 months.
e) Comments or forms
If a form or comment feature is added to the site, we will process what you submit in it only for the purpose you submitted it.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
We do not use advertising cookies. We use what is needed to run the site and the features you ask for, and statistics cookies only if you agree:
- Newsletter pop-up memory: your browser’s local storage keeps a small setting (for example that you closed or completed the pop-up) so we do not show it again. It contains no personal data and stays on your device until you clear it.
- Accessibility settings: if you use our accessibility button (text size, contrast and similar), your choices are kept in your browser’s local storage so they stay the same on every page. They contain no personal data and stay on your device until you reset them or clear your browser data.
- Technical cookies that WordPress or our caching system may set to make the site work.
- Consent choice: our cookie banner stores a small cookie with your choice, so we do not ask you again on every page.
- Statistics cookies (only with your consent): Google Analytics sets cookies such as
_gaand_ga_*to tell visits apart. They are kept for up to 2 years. The full list is in our Cookie Policy.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the “Manage consent” link. If we add other tools, we will ask for your consent first where the law requires it and update this page.
6. Third-party services and content
We use or link to the following. Each acts under its own privacy policy:
- Hosting and caching: Hostinger (web hosting) and LiteSpeed Cache, which process the technical data described above.
- Retailers and affiliate programs (for example Amazon): when you click an affiliate link you leave our site. The retailer or program may set its own cookies to record that you came from us, so that the commission can be credited. We do not control this and do not receive your personal data from it.
- Pinterest and other social networks: our “Pin it” button and the social feed on our home page may load images or content from Pinterest. Pinterest and similar platforms may receive technical data such as your IP address when their content loads or when you use their buttons. Links to our social profiles lead to those platforms, whose own policies apply.
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC): website statistics, only with your consent. Data may be processed in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
- Fonts: if the site loads fonts from Google Fonts, your IP address is transmitted to Google when the page loads. We may switch to fonts hosted on our own server.
7. Sharing and transfers
We share personal data only with service providers that help us run the site and the newsletter (such as hosting and email delivery), under their obligations to protect it, or where the law requires it. Some providers are located outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. How long we keep data
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe, after which we delete it, keeping only a minimal record where needed to honour your opt-out or to prove consent as the law allows.
- Emails you send us: only as long as needed to handle your request, normally no more than 24 months.
- Server logs: for the short period set by our hosting provider.
- Website statistics (Google Analytics): 14 months.
9. Your rights
Under the GDPR (and similar laws such as the UK GDPR) you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted;
- restrict how we process it;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- object to processing based on legitimate interest;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
To use any of these rights, contact us at hello@braveheroesofficial.com. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority, for example in the EU country where you live or work, or to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).
If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you may have similar rights to know, delete and correct your data. We do not sell or share personal data for advertising.
10. Children
This site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you think a child has given us data, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including HTTPS and spam protection on our forms. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. External links
This site links to other websites. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this page when our practices or the law change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
14. Contact
